Call for papers for BAC Annual Conference 2019

We would particularly encourage proposals from sectors and communities traditionally under-documented within business archives and from those who have not previously presented at our conference. Given that the theme is collaboration, we would welcome speakers from other areas of business and other communities, in addition to those from business archives. Please pass this on, or consider collaborating on a joint proposal, so that we can bring in new voices and viewpoints.

Tell us about your organisation's approach to collaboration. What connections have you made? What are the challenges of working in partnership? Can business archives use participatory approaches to manage, preserve and exploit their collections? How can connections be nurtured and sustained within corporate environments? How do you measure the success of collaborating with others?

Proposals for papers might include, but are not limited to, the following areas:

  • Existing and emerging communities of practice in business archives;

  • Participatory approaches to business archives;

  • Collaboration in times of crisis;

  • Sharing services and responding to common challenges;

  • Dynamic and innovative ways of exchanging knowledge;

  • Creating new connections across different sectors and disciplines;

  • Making the case for collaboration across and within business archives.

Please send your proposals to Meg Venter (venter.meg@gmail.com) with the subject heading ‘Business Archives Council 2019 Conference’ and including the following information:

  • Name and organisation of speaker(s)
  • Title
  • An abstract of no more than 500 words

The closing date for submissions is Friday 26 July 2019 and decisions will be notified during the week beginning 19 August 2019, with speakers receiving free entry to the conference.

Conference booking will open in August 2019 and the full programme will be announced in September.
